Kerala to vaccinate students at schools from Wednesday

Health minister Veena George has announced that the Covid vaccination drive will begin at schools from Wednesday onwards.The guidelines for the drive have been released on Sunday. Following separate meetings of the health and education departments, the ministers summoned a meeting to finalise the vaccination drive at schools.

At present, children of 15 years of age and above who are born in the year 2007 and earlier are administrated with the COVID-19 vaccine. Only Covaxin will be given to the children aged 15 to 17 years. The vaccine will be given with the consent of the parents.

The District Task Force and Department of Education are in charge of the vaccination drive. Schools with more than 500 beneficiaries are selected as session sites for conducting the vaccination drive. Schools should arrange waiting areas, vaccination rooms and observation rooms at the vaccination centres.
