Schools and colleges in Kerala are set to resume in-person classes soon.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
While classes for grades 1-9 will resume on February 14, classes for grades 10 and Plus Two will begin from February 7. College classes too will resume on February 7.
The State has also urged schools and colleges to make online classes available for those who are unable to attend in-person classes.
Schools and colleges have been shut for a greater part of the past two years on account of COVID-19.
Though they had reopened in November last year with much fanfare, a spike in coronavirus cases fueled in part by the Omicron variant, forced the government to shut schools again in January, and students to retreat to the online model.
Though there is no significant dip in the number of daily COVID cases for the past weeks, it seems the government was forced to take this step so as to ensure that portions are complete, especially for Class 10 and Plus Two.
