National Sports Day 2020

It is celebrated on 29 August every year across the country. The day raises awareness about physical activity, sports, and overall health. It is celebrated to mark the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand who won various Gold medals for India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted “Today, on #NationalSportsDay, we pay tributes to Major Dhyan Chand, whose magic with the hockey stick can never be forgotten. This is also a day to laud the outstanding support given by the families, coaches, and support staff towards the success of our talented athletes.”
