Kochouseph Chittilappilly is an Indian businessman and the Managing Director of V Guard Industries Ltd and a chain of amusement parks like Wonderla, Kochi and Bangalore. Kochouseph Chittilappilly founded V Guard Industries Ltd in 1977 and has been its Managing Director since August 1, 2007. Mr. Chittilappilly started his career as a Supervisor in an electronics company, where he served for three years. He also founded Wonderla- one of the most attractive amusement parks in the country, with a spectacular range of rides and entertainment. He served as Chairman of V Guard Industries Ltd and has been its Director since August 1, 2007. Mr. Chittilappilly has written a book -‘Practical Wisdom: In real life & management’, which is an account of practical management techniques he derived from his personal experiences. Mr. Chittilappilly won many prestigious awards and recognitions for his outstanding proficiency and performance in business, like the ‘Rashtriya Samman’ awarded by the Government of India for the highest tax-payer, ‘Millennium Businessman of Kerala’ by Business Deepika and ‘Tourism Man of the Year 2000’ by Destination Kerala. Mr. Chittilappilly completed his studies at the village school and attained a Master’s Degree in Physics from St. Thomas College, Thrissur. He holds Master’s Degree in Physics from St Thomas College Thrissur and post graduated in Science in Physics from Calicut University.
Kochouseph Chittilappilly started his career as a Supervisor in an electronics company, Telics, a new medium-scale company in Thiruvananthapuram promoted by the state government to make electronic stabilizers, where he served for three years. He founded V Guard Industries Ltd in 1977 with two employees for making stabilizers in partnership with Premiere Electronics. The company’s initial production was 50 stabilizers per month manufactured by the trio. Chittilappilly used to ferry his products in Thiruvananthapuram on a Lambretta scooter, hard selling his wares. In 1992, the partnership concern wasdissolved and Kochouseph Chittilappilly continued the business as a proprietary concern. He started another proprietorship concern by the name of M/s Prompt India for marketing of the products under the brand name of V-Guard in 1985. Later Prompt India changed its name to V-Guard Industries. On February 12, 1996; the company was incorporated under the name of V-Guard Industries Limited. He also started a number of amusement parks like ‘Veegaland’ Kochi (now Wonderla), started in April 2000, with Rs 60-crore and Rs 85-crore Wonderla, Bangalore. Wonderla is one of the largest amusement parks inparks in India. Veegaland was India’s first amusement park to be awarded the ISO 14001-2004 for environmental friendliness and conservation of natural resources.
