Kerala reported 45,449 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity rate also continued to rose and touched 44.8 per cent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-11,091, Thiruvananthapuram- 8,980, Kozhikode- 5,581, Thrissur-2,779, Kollam-2,667, Malappuram-2,371, Kottayam-2,216, Palakkad-2,137, Pathanamthitta-1,723, Alappuzha-1,564, Idukki-1,433, Kannur- 1,336, Wayanad- 941 and Kasaragod-630.
A total of 1,01,252 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
4,17,764 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 4,08,881 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 8,883 people are in hospitals. 1,098 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday.
Among the 2,64,638 active Covid cases reported, only 3.5 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
Along with 38 new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 39 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. With this, the death toll climbed to 51,816 in the state.
Meanwhile, 27,961 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-9017, Kollam-577, Pathanamthitta-1146, Alappuzha-567, Kottayam-1225, Idukki-415, Ernakulam-2901, Thrissur-5086, Palakkad-835, Malappuram-698, Kozhikode-3229, Wayanad-260, Kannur-1494 and Kasaragod-511.
53,25,932 people were recovered from the disease so far.
