Kerala reports 8,790 new COVID-19 cases today

Kerala on Wednesday reported 8,790 new cases of Covid-19.7,646 patients contracted the disease through contact. Among them, the virus source of 872 cases remains unknown. 7,660 recoveries were also reported. 27 deaths were confirmed in the state taking the COVID death toll to 1,403. Out of the new patients 178 had returned from outside the state.

Positive cases
Ernakulam – 1250, Kozhikode – 1149, Thrissur – 1018, Kollam – 935, Alappuzha – 790, Thiruvananthapuram – 785, Kottayam – 594, Malappuram – 548, Kannur – 506, Palakkad – 449, Pathanamthitta – 260, Kasaragod – 203, Wayanad – 188 and Idukki – 115.

Negative Cases
Thiruvananthapuram – 654, Kollam – 534, Pathanamthitta – 153, Alappuzha – 532, Kottayam – 236, Idukki – 72, Ernakulam – 914, Thrissur – 1103, Palakkad – 188, Malappuram – 993, Kozhikode – 947, Wayanad – 111, Kannur – 368 and Kasaragod – 210.

Contact cases
Ernakulam – 994, Kozhikode – 1087, Thrissur – 1005, Kollam – 923, Alappuzha – 717, Thiruvananthapuram – 582, Kottayam – 588, Malappuram – 502, Kannur – 385, Palakkad – 218, Pathanamthitta – 198, Kasaragod – 197, Wayanad – 178 and Idukki – 72.

94 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 22 are from Thiruvananthapuram 19 each are from Kannur and Kozhikode, 7 are from Ernakulam, 6 are from Thrissur, 5 are from Kollam, 4 are from Pathanamthitta, 3 each are from Malappuram, Wayanad and Kasaragod, 2 are from Kottayam and 1 is from Idukki.

There are 93,264 active coronavirus cases in Kerala while 3,16,692 have recovered. As many as 2,90,504 are under observation. Among them, 2,68,506 are in home/institutional quarantine while 21,998 are in hospitals. 2,616 were admitted to hospitals on Wednesday.
