Kerala on Wednesday reported 8,369 new cases of Covid-19, informed the office of Health Minister K K Shailaja.62,030 samples were tested in the past 24 hours.6,839 recoveries were also reported in the state.26 deaths were also confirmed in the state taking Covid death toll to 1232.

Ernakulam – 1190, Kozhikode – 1158, Thrissur – 946, Alappuzha – 820, Kollam – 742, Malappuram – 668, Thiruvananthapuram – 657, Kannur – 566, Kottayam – 526, Palakkad – 417, Pathanamthitta – 247, Kasaragod – 200, Wayanad – 132 and Idukki – 100.
Negative cases
Thiruvananthapuram – 705, Kollam – 711, Pathanamthitta – 330, Alappuzha – 769, Kottayam – 404, Idukki – 71, Ernakulam – 970, Thrissur – 203, Palakkad – 373, Malappuram – 832, Kozhikode – 705, Wayanad – 92, Kannur – 426 and Kasaragod – 248.
64 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them 15 are from Kannur, 12 from Thiruvananthapuram, 10 from Ernakulam, 7 from Kozhikode, 6 each from Kottayam and Thrissur, 3 from Pathanamthitta, 2 each from Malappuram and Wayanad and 1 from Kasaragod.
There are 93,425 active coronavirus cases in Kerala while 2,67,082 have recovered. As many as 2,80,232 are under observation. Among them, 2,57,216 are in home/institutional quarantine while 23,016 are in hospitals. 2,899 were admitted to hospitals on Wednesday.
62,030 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. So far, 40,91,729 samples including those collected from priority groups as part of sentinel surveillance, were sent for testing.
