Kerala reports 8,253 new Covid-19 cases today

Kerala on Saturday reported 8,253 new cases of Covid-19, said a statement from the office of Health Minister K K Shailaja. 67,593 samples were tested in the past 24 hours. 7,084 developed the disease through contact. Among them, the virus source of 939 is unknown.
6,468 recoveries were also reported on Saturday. 25 deaths were confirmed in the state taking the COVID death toll to 1,306.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Ernakulam – 1170, Thrissur – 1086, Thiruvananthapuram – 909, Kozhikode – 770, Kollam – 737, Malappuram – 719, Alappuzha – 706, Kottayam – 458, Palakkad – 457, Kannur – 430, Pathanamthitta – 331, Idukki – 201, Kasaragod – 200 and Wayanad – 79.
Out of the new cases, 163 had returned from outside the state.

The district-wise statistics of contact cases are: Ernakulam – 894, Thrissur – 1070, Thiruvananthapuram – 751, Kozhikode – 738, Kollam – 730, Malappuram – 688, Alappuzha – 693, Kottayam – 391, Palakkad – 179, Kannur – 326, Pathanamthitta – 278, Idukki – 87, Kasaragod – 186 and Wayanad – 73.

67 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 17 are from Ernakulam, 9 each from Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram, 8 from Kozhikode, 6 from Kasaragod, 5 from Thrissur, 4 from Kottayam, 3 from Palakkad, 2 each from Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Wayanad.
