Kerala on Wednesday reported 7,007 COVID-19 cases. 7,252 recoveries were also reported in the state on Wednesday. There are 78,420 active cases in the state.
64,192 samples were tested in the past 24-hours. 29 deaths due to COVID were also confirmed by NIV Alappuzha. With this, the COVID death toll in the state touched 1,771.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Ernakulam – 977, Thrissur – 966, Kozhikode – 830, Kollam – 679, Kottayam – 580, Malappuram – 527, Alappuzha – 521, Thiruvananthapuram – 484, Palakkad – 424, Kannur – 264, Pathanamthitta – 230, Idukki – 225, Wayanad – 159 and Kasaragod – 141.
6,152 persons contracted the virus through contact out of which the infection source of 717 is unknown. 52 health workers were also confirmed with COVID-19. Out of the new patients, 86 had returned from outside the state.
The district-wise statistics of contact cases are: Ernakulam – 684, Thrissur – 952, Kozhikode – 801, Kollam – 664, Kottayam – 580, Malappuram – 486, Alappuzha – 505, Thiruvananthapuram – 396, Palakkad – 260, Kannur – 190, Pathanamthitta – 161, Idukki – 194, Wayanad – 145 and Kasaragod – 134.
52 health workers also tested positive for COVID-19. Among them, 11 are from Kozhikode, 8 from Ernakulam, 5 each from Thrissur, Kannur, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram, 3 each from Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad, 2 from Pathanamthitta and 1 each from Alappuzha and Kasaragod.
The district-wise recoveries are: Thiruvananthapuram – 704, Kollam – 779, Pathanamthitta – 174, Alappuzha – 716, Kottayam – 353, Idukki – 91, Ernakulam – 758, Thrissur – 943, Palakkad – 506, Malappuram – 661, Kozhikode – 836, Wayanad – 83, Kannur – 501 and Kasaragod – 147.
