Kerala reports 6,638 new COVID-19 cases toady

Kerala on Friday reported 6,638 new cases of Covid-19.5,789 patients contracted the disease through contact. Among them, the virus source of 700 cases remains unknown. 7,828 recoveries were also reported. 28 deaths were confirmed in the state taking the COVID death toll to 1,457. Out of the new patients 85 had returned from outside the state.

Thrissur – 1096, Malappuram – 761, Kozhikode – 722, Ernakulam – 674, Alappuzha – 664, Thiruvananthapuram – 587, Kollam – 482, Palakkad – 482, Kottayam – 367, Kannur – 341, Pathanamthitta – 163, Kasaragod – 133, Wayanad – 90 and Idukki – 76.

Negative Cases
Thiruvananthapuram – 715, Kollam – 636, Pathanamthitta – 145, Alappuzha – 722, Kottayam – 1007, Idukki – 105, Ernakulam – 741, Thrissur – 778, Palakkad – 286, Malappuram – 1106, Kozhikode – 959, Wayanad – 109, Kannur – 379 and Kasaragod – 140.

Contact cases
Thrissur – 1080, Malappuram – 723, Kozhikode – 698, Ernakulam – 457, Alappuzha – 629, Thiruvananthapuram – 460, Kollam – 474, Palakkad – 258, Kottayam – 360, Kannur – 251, Pathanamthitta – 131, Kasaragod – 129, Wayanad – 84 and Idukki – 55.

There are 90,565 active coronavirus cases in Kerala while 3,32,994 have recovered. As many as 2,88,635 are under observation. Among them, 2,66,953 are in home/institutional quarantine while 21,682 are in hospitals. 2,621 were admitted to hospitals on Friday.

64 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 14 are from Ernakulam, 13 are from Kozhikode, 10 are from Thiruvananthapuram, 8 are from Kannur, 7 are from Thrissur, 4 are from Malappuram, 2 each are from Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Kottayam while 1 each is from Kasaragod and Alappuzha.
