Kerala reports 6,010 new Covid-19 cases today

Kerala on Tuesday reported 6,010 Covid cases.54,751 samples were tested in the past 24-hours. 28 deaths were also confirmed due to Covid by NIV Alappuzha. With this, the Covid death toll in the state touched 1,742.

5,188 persons contracted the virus through contact out of which the infection source of 653 is unknown. 69 health workers were also confirmed with Covid-19. Out of the new patients 100 had returned from outside. 6,698 recoveries were also reported in the state on Tuesday. There are 78,649 active cases in the state.

Kozhikode – 807, Thrissur – 711, Malappuram – 685, Alappuzha – 641, Ernakulam – 583, Thiruvananthapuram – 567, Kollam – 431, Kottayam – 426, Palakkad – 342, Kannur – 301, Pathanamthitta – 234, Wayanad – 112, Idukki – 89 and Kasaragod – 81.

Negative Cases
Thiruvananthapuram – 580, Kollam – 485, Pathanamthitta – 175, Alappuzha – 559, Kottayam – 361, Idukki – 105, Ernakulam – 1078, Thrissur – 1088, Palakkad – 413, Malappuram – 545, Kozhikode – 798, Wayanad – 135, Kannur – 177 and Kasaragod – 199.

Contact cases
Kozhikode – 759, Thrissur – 685, Malappuram – 645, Alappuzha – 628, Ernakulam – 375, Thiruvananthapuram – 436, Kollam – 425, Kottayam – 420, Palakkad – 182, Kannur – 220, Pathanamthitta – 180, Wayanad – 104, Idukki – 57 and Kasaragod – 72.

69 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 12 each are from Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode, 9 are from Malappuram, 8 each are from Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kannur and 2 each are from Palakkad, Wayanad, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Idukki and Kasaragod.

There are 78,694 active coronavirus cases in Kerala while 4,15,158 have recovered. As many as 3,16,359 are under observation. Among them, 2,97,041 are in home/institutional quarantine while 19,318 are in hospitals. 2,039 were admitted to hospitals on Tuesday. 54,751 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. So far, 51,85,673 samples, including those collected from priority groups as part of sentinel surveillance, were sent for testing.
