Kerala reports 5,722 COVID-19 cases Today.
6,860 recoveries were reported in the state on Thursday. 67,017 samples were tested in the past 24-hours. 26 deaths due to Covid were also confirmed by NIV Alappuzha. With this, the death toll in the state due to coronavirus rose to 1,969.
So far, 56,88,651 samples, including those collected from priority groups as part of sentinel surveillance, were sent for testing. Test positivity rate is 8.54.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Malappuram – 862, Thrissur – 631, Kozhikode – 575, Alappuzha – 527, Palakkad – 496, Thiruvananthapuram – 456, Ernakulam – 423, Kottayam – 342, Kollam – 338, Kannur – 337, Idukki – 276, Pathanamthitta – 200, Kasaragod – 145 and Wayanad – 114.
4,904 persons contracted the virus through contact out of which the infection source of 643 is unknown. Out of the new patients, 117 had returned from outside the state.
The district-wise statistics of contact cases are: Malappuram – 836, Thrissur – 614, Kozhikode – 534, Alappuzha – 519, Palakkad – 277, Thiruvananthapuram – 343, Ernakulam – 283, Kottayam – 340, Kollam – 331, Kannur – 244, Idukki – 225, Pathanamthitta – 117, Kasaragod – 134 and Wayanad – 107.
58 health workers also tested positive for COVID-19. Among them, 12 are from Ernakulam, 10 are from Kannur, 8 are from Thrissur, 6 are from Kozhikode, 5 each are from Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram, 3 each are from Kollam, Palakkad and Kasaragod, 2 are from Malappuram while w is from Wayanad.
The district-wise recoveries are: Thiruvananthapuram – 658, Kollam – 596, Pathanamthitta – 124, Alappuzha – 626, Kottayam – 402, Idukki – 219, Ernakulam – 936, Thrissur – 836, Palakkad – 406, Malappuram – 522, Kozhikode – 894, Wayanad – 118, Kannur – 337 and Kasaragod – 146.
There are 68,229 active Coronavirus cases in Kerala while 4,75,320 have recovered. As many as 3,18,025 are under observation. Among them, 3,01,547 are in home/institutional quarantine while 16,478 are in hospitals. 2,131 were admitted to hospitals on Thursday.
