Kerala reports 5,042 new coronavirus cases on Monday

Kerala reported 5,042 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, informed a press release from the office of Health Minister K. K. Shailaja.
4,640 recoveries also were reported in the state. 23 deaths were also confirmed of Covid-19 on Monday taking the official death toll to 859.
Among the new Covid cases reported, 29 persons had returned from abroad while 102 returned from other states. 4,338 persons developed the disease through contact. The virus source of 450 is unknown. 110 health workers also developed the disease. 38,696 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Ernakulam – 705, Thiruvananthapuram – 700, Kozhikode – 641, Malappuram – 606, Kollam – 458, Thrissur – 425, Kottayam – 354, Kannur – 339, Palakkad – 281, Kasaragod – 207, Alappuzha – 199, Idukki – 71, Wayanad – 31 and Pathanamthitta – 25.
The district-wise statistics of contact cases are: Ernakulam – 587, Thiruvananthapuram – 532, Kozhikode – 609, Malappuram – 545, Kollam – 451, Thrissur – 413, Kottayam – 348, Kannur – 212, Palakkad – 188, Kasaragod – 187, Alappuzha – 194, Idukki – 36, Wayanad – 24 and Pathanamthitta – 12.
Among the 110 health workers confirmed with Covid-19 on Monday, 35 are from Kannur, 19 are from Ernakulam, 18 are from Thiruvananthapuram, 10 are from Kozhikode, 6 are from Thrissur, 5 each are from Kollam and Malappuram, 3 each are from Pathanamthitta and Palakkad, 2 each are from Wayanad and Kasaragod and 1 each from Kottayam and Alappuzha.
Moreover, 13 INHS workers in Ernakulam district also developed the disease.

The district-wise statistics of recoveries are: Thiruvananthapuram – 910, Kollam – 283, Pathanamthitta – 102, Alappuzha – 387, Kottayam – 400, Idukki – 61, Ernakulam – 236, Thrissur – 285, Palakkad – 327, Malappuram – 757, Kozhikode – 507, Wayanad – 90, Kannur – 130 and Kasaragod – 165.
There are 84,873 active coronavirus cases in Kerala at present. 1,49,111 have recovered. As many as 2,58,446 are under observation. Among them, 2,27,942 are in home/institutional quarantine while 30,504 are in hospitals. 2,964 were admitted to hospitals on Monday.
38,696 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. So far, 31,98,423 samples were sent for testing in different categories. 2,08,481 samples were collected from priority groups as part of sentinel surveillance.
4 new COVID hotspots were identified in Kerala on Monday while 7 areas were removed from the list. Currently, there are 722 hotspots in the state.
