A total of 32,819 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Kerala on Tuesday. 32 deaths also were reported. Test positivity rate was recorded at 23.24. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed this in a press meet held here after the Covid review meeting on Tuesday.

1,41,199 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 1,53,54,299 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
None of the UK, South Africa or Brazil returnees tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. So far, 108 people returned from UK, 7 from South Africa and 1 from Brazil tested positive for the virus infection. 112 of them have recovered. So far, 11 patients have been identified with the mutant virus strain.
32 deaths were confirmed due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the state has touched 5,170. Test results from Alappuzha NIV are awaited to confirm other suspected Covid deaths.
265 of the coronavirus patients came from outside the state. 30,409 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 2,049 persons remains unidentified.

96 health workers also tested positive for Covid on Tuesday. Among them, 31 were from Kannur, 14 each from Palakkad and Kasaragod, 8 from Wayanad, 7 from Kottayam, 6 from Kollam, 5 from Thrissur, 4 from Ernakulam, 2 each from Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram, 1 each from Alappuzha, Idukki and Kozhikode.
18,413 recoveries were also reported in the state. The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram – 1012, Kollam – 4499, Pathanamthitta – 253, Alappuzha – 136, Kottayam – 4729, Idukki – 272, Ernakulam – 2000, Thrissur – 1302, Palakkad – 481, Malappuram – 704, Kozhikode – 1567, Wayanad – 233, Kannur – 623 and Kasaragod – 602.
There are 2,47,181 active Covid-19 cases in the state. 12,07,680 people have recovered from the disease. 5,27,662 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 5,06,202 are under home/institutional quarantine and 21,460 people are in hospitals. 3,645 people were taken to hospitals on Tuesday.
40 new hotspots were identified on Tuesday while three places were removed from the list. Currently, there are 587 hotspots in the state.
