Kerala reports 2,988 new Covid-19 Cases Today

Kerala reported 2,988 Covid-19 cases on Friday taking the total caseload in the state over 1 lakh, informed a press statement from the office of health minister K K Shailaja. Out of the fresh infections, 2,738 were reported through contact and the infection source of 285 remain unknown.

 

14 deaths were also confirmed due to Covid-19 taking the total death toll to 410. 52 health workers were also confirmed of the infection on Friday.

1,326 recoveries were also reported on Friday.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Thiruvananthapuram – 494 (477 through contact), Kollam – 303 (295 through contact), Pathanamthitta – 93 (65 through contact), Alappuzha – 200 (178 contact cases), Kottayam – 221 (208), Idukki – 28 (20), Ernakulam – 295 (258), Thrissur – 184 (172), Palakkad – 131 (99), Malappuram – 390 (372), Kozhikode – 261 (239), Wayanad – 52 (33), Kannur – 256 (225) and Kasaragod – 102 (97).

Among the new COVID cases reported on Friday, 45 persons had returned from abroad while 134 returned from other states.

Among the 52 health workers confirmed with COVID-19 on Friday, 15 each are from Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur, 5 from thrissur, 4 from Malappuram, 3 each from Kollam, Kasaragod and Ernakulam, 1 each from Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Palakkad and Wayanad.

16 INHS employees in Ernakulam and 3 BCMC employees in Pathanamthitta were also confirmed of the infection.
