Kerala reports 1,547 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday; 1,419 through contact

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Wednesday reported 1,547 new COVID-19 cases, informed the office of Health Minister K. K. Shailaja.

Among them, 1,419 people contracted the disease through contact. The virus source of 156 among them is unknown. Kerala also reported 7 deaths and 2,129 recoveries on Wednesday.

COVID-19 in districts
The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Thiruvananthapuram – 228, Kozhikode – 204, Alappuzha – 159, Malappuram – 146, Kottayam – 145, Kannur – 142, Ernakulam – 136, Thrissur – 121, Kasaragod – 88, Kollam – 81, Wayanad – 38, Palakkad – 30, Pathanamthitta – 17 and Idukki – 12.

7 deaths confirmed
7 deaths were also confirmed of COVID-19 in the state taking the death toll to 305. The deceased were identified as Kasaragod Manjeshwaram native Aboobacker (60) Thiruvananthapuram Kalaykkod native Omanakuttan (63) and Thiruvananthapuram Vizhinjam native Silvamma (80), who died on August 28, Ernakulam Perumbavoor native Nabeesa Beeran (75), who died on August 26, Ernakulam Kothamangalam native Baby George (60), who died on August 24, Ernakulam Aluva native Sadanandan (57), who died on August 17 and Thiruvananthapuram Sreekariyam native Balachandran Nair (63), who died on August 31. Other deaths will be confirmed after testing in NIV in Alappuzha
