Kerala reported 3,349 coronavirus infections on Thursday.

Kerala reported 3,349coronavirus infections on Thursday, informed a press statement from the office of Health Minister K K Shailaja.

3,058 contracted the disease through contact out of which the infection source of 266 persons is unknown. The highest number of cases was reported from Thiruvananthapuram.

12 deaths were also reported on Thursday taking the Covid death toll in the state to 396. Moreover, 72 health workers were also confirmed of the infection on Thursday.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Thiruvananthapuram – 558 (542 through contact), Malappuram – 330 (309 through contact), Thrissur – 300 (278 through contact), Kannur – 276 (243 through contact), Alappuzha – 267 (240 through contact), Kozhikode – 261 (252 through contact), Kollam – 244 (232 through contact), Ernakulam – 227 (207 through contact), Kottayam – 217 (210 through contact), Palakkad – 194 (152 through contact), Kasaragod – 140 (137 through contact), Pathanamthitta – 135 (101 through contact), Idukki – 105 (66 through contact)and Wayanad – 95 (89 through contact).

Among the new COVID cases reported on Thursday, 50 persons had returned from abroad while 165 returned from other states.

A total of 72 health workers were confirmed with COVID-19. Among them 18 are from Kannur, 13 are from Thrissur, 12 are from Thiruvananthapuram, 11 are from Ernakulam, 9 are from Kollam, 3 are from Malappuram, 2 are from Pathanamthitta and 1 each is from Alappuzha, Palakkad, Wayanad and Kasaragod districts. 4 INHS employees in Ernakulam were also confirmed of the infection.
