Kerala reports 7,983 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday; 7,330 recoveries

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Saturday reported 7,983 new cases of Covid-19, informed Health Minister K. K. Shailaja in a press release.7,049 patients contracted the disease through contact. Among them, the virus source of 786 cases remains unknown. 7,330 recoveries were also reported. 27 deaths were confirmed in the state taking the COVID death toll to 1,484. Out of the new patients 86 had returned from outside the state.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Ernakulam – 1114, Thrissur – 1112, Kozhikode – 834, Thiruvananthapuram – 790, Malappuram – 769, Kollam – 741, Alappuzha – 645, Kottayam – 584, Palakkad – 496, Kannur – 337, Pathanamthitta – 203, Kasaragod – 156, Wayanad – 145 and Idukki – 57.

The district-wise statistics of contact cases are: Ernakulam – 826, Thrissur – 1104, Kozhikode – 797, Thiruvananthapuram – 643, Malappuram – 719, Kollam – 735, Alappuzha – 635, Kottayam – 580, Palakkad – 287, Kannur – 248, Pathanamthitta – 152, Kasaragod – 143, Wayanad – 139 and Idukki – 41.

62 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 14 are from Kozhikode, 10 are from Kannur, 7 each are from Thiruvananthapuram and Malappuram, 6 each are from Ernakulam and Kasaragod, 4 are from Thrissur, 3 are from Pathanamthitta, 2 are from Palakkad and 1 each is from Kollam, Kottayam and Wayanad.
