COVID: Kerala sets new low, records highest ever tally of 46,387

Kerala has set an unwanted record by logging its highest-ever daily COVID-19 tally on Thursday.

With 46,387 cases reported on the day, the state has surpassed its previous high of 43,529 logged on May 12, 2021.

The number of active cases has increased to 1,99,041 with the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) logged at 40.2% after 1,15,357 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

The districts of Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam recorded in excess of 9,000 cases on the day while four other districts — Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kottayam and Kollam — had over 3,000 cases.

The COVID-19-related toll has reached 51,501 after 32 recent deaths and 309 previously undocumented ones were made official by the health department.
