Kerala reported a record 4,531 Covid cases on Thursday, 4081 were through contact and the infection source of 351 remains unknown.

Kerala reported a record 4,531 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He was addressing the media after a corona virus review meeting here.

This is for the first time that Kerala is reporting over 4,000 corona virus cases in 24 hours. The previous high was 3,830 reported on Wednesday.

Out of the fresh infections, 4,081 were through contact and the infection source of 351 remains unknown. 10 deaths were also confirmed due to Covid-19. As many as 71 health workers were also confirmed of the infection. Kerala also reported 2,737 recoveries on Thursday.

 

The district-wise statistics of positive cases are:

Thiruvananthapuram – 820,

Kozhikode – 545,

Ernakulam – 383,

Alappuzha – 367,

Malappuram – 351,

Kasaragod – 319,

Thrissur – 296,

Kannur – 260,

Palakkad – 241,

Kollam – 218,

Kottayam – 204,

Pathanamthitta – 136,

Wayaand – 107 

Idukki – 104.

The casualties confirmed of Covid-19 on Thursday were Thiruvananthapuram Pappanamcode native Jayakumari (63) and Thrissur Engandiyur native Jacob (89), who died on September 13, Thiruvananthapuram Kottappuram native Nizamudheen (49), who died on September 14, Malappuram native Mariyakkutty (75), who died on September 15, Kollam Kallumthazham native Hawa Umma (73), Kozhikode Valayam native Abdulla (64) and Kollam Prakkulam native Jameela (62), who died on September 9, Kollam Kulakkada native Sasidharan Nair (75) and Thiruvananthapuram Kallattumukku native Sainulabdheen (67), who died on September 10 and Thrissur Kodungallur native Abbas (74). With this, the death toll reached 489.

Among the new COVID cases reported, 57 persons had returned from abroad while 141 returned from other states.
