Kerala reported 4,138 Covid-19 cases today. 21 deaths were also confirmed today taking the death toll to 1533. 3,599 contracted the virus through contact. Among them, the infection source of 438 cases is unknown.33,345 samples were tested in the past 24 hours.7,108 recoveries were also reported on Monday. At present 86,681 people are under treatment for Covid-19. Out of the new patients 54 had returned from outside the state.
At present the positive cases are 12,329 per 10 lakh population. The national average of the same is 5,963. The test per million in state is 1,31,516 for which the national average is 80,248. Though positive cases increased, the death rate is at a low 0.34. The national average for the same is 1.49. Out of the Covid causalities in Kerala, 94 percent had comorbidities and 72.3 percent were over 60 years, CM added.

The district-wise statistics of contact cases are: Kozhikode – 541, Ernakulam – 407, Alappuzha – 482, Malappuram – 440, Thrissur – 420, Thiruvananthapuram – 281, Kollam – 339, Palakkad – 133, Kottayam – 244, Kannur – 135, Idukki – 53, Kasaragod – 54, Wayanad – 42and Pathanamthitta – 28.
47 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 9 are from Kannur,8 each from Ernakulam, Kozhikode, 7 from Thiruvananthapuram, 5 from Thrissur, 4 from Pathanamthitta, 3 from Kollam, 2 from Kasaragod and 1 from Malappuram.

There are 86,681 active coronavirus cases in Kerala while 3,55,943 have recovered. As many as 2,93,221 are under observation. Among them, 2,71,744 are in home/institutional quarantine while 21,477 are in hospitals. 2,437 were admitted to hospitals on Monday.
