India’s Covid-19 tally went past 69 lakh with 70,496 infections being reported in a day, while active cases of infection fell below 9 lakh after a month, according to the Union Health Ministry data. The total coronavirus cases mounted to 69,06,151. The death toll climbed to 1,06,490 with 964 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours.
While the recovery rate is at 85.52 per cent, the fatality rate is 1.54 per cent, the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit with a total of 14,93,884 cases including 39,430 deaths; followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
According to the data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India conducted 11,68,705 sample tests in a single day on Thursday.
The global coronavirus count crossed 3.64 crore and the toll rose to 10,50,869, according to Johns Hopkins University. The number of recoveries crossed 2.53 crore.
