Kerala on Wednesday reported 2,476 new COVID-19 cases, informed the office of Health Minister K K Shailaja. This is the highest single-day spike to be reported in the state. Among them, 2,243 people contracted the disease through contact.
13 deaths were also confirmed of COVID-19 in the state taking the death toll to 257. 64 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 had returned from abroad and 99 returned from other states. Out of the contact cases, the infection source of 175 cases is unknown.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Thiruvananthapuram – 461, Malappuram – 352, Kozhikode – 215, Thrissur – 204, Alappuzha – 193, Ernakulam – 193, Pathanamthitta – 180, Kottayam – 137, Kollam – 133, Kannur – 128, Kasaragod – 101, Palakkad – 86, Idukki – 63 and Wayanad 30.
The district-wise statistics of contact cases are: Thiruvananthapuram – 445, Malappuram – 332, Kozhikode – 205, Thrissur – 183, Ernakulam – 179, Alappuzha – 164, Pathanamthitta – 145, Kottayam – 134, Kollam – 131, Kannur – 111, Kasaragod – 79, Palakkad – 64, Idukki – 50 and Wayanad 21.
Meanwhile, 1,351 recoveries were also reported on Wednesday. The district-wise statistics of negative cases are: Thiruvananthapuram – 201, Kollam – 58, Pathanamthitta – 43, Alappuzha – 95, Kottayam – 59, Idukki – 13, Ernakulam – 191, Thrissur – 100, Palakkad – 66, Malappuram – 254, Kozhikode – 150, Wayanad – 32, Kannur – 49 and Kasaragod – 40.
