Kerala on Saturday, reported 2,172 Covid-19 cases, informed the office of Health Minister K K Shailaja. This is the fourth day the daily cases are marked near 2,000. The most number of cases were reported from Thiruvananthapuram and Malappuram.
Out of the new cases, 1,964 cases were reported through contact while 52 persons who tested positive for Covid-19 had returned from abroad and 102 returned from other states. Out of the contact cases, the infection source of 153 cases is unknown.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Thiruvananthapuram – 464 (450 through contact), Kollam – 77 (75 through contact), Pathanamthitta – 93 (65 through contact), Alappuzha – 87 (83 contact cases), Kottayam – 104 (97), Idukki – 37 (18), Ernakulam – 114 (108), Thrissur – 179 (152), Palakkad – 184 (147), Malappuram – 395 (366), Kozhikode – 232 (213), Wayanad – 25 (23), Kannur – 62 (56) and Kasaragod – 119 (111).
54 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Among them 14 are from Palakkad, 11 from Malappuram, 9 from Thiruvananthapuram, 8 from Thrissur, 5 from Kasaragod, 3 from Ernakulam, 2 from Kozhikode and 1 each from Kannur and Wayanad.
