The Kerala government has imposed Section 144 of CrPC across the state, prohibiting public gathering of more than five people due to the spike in COVID-19 cases.With this, strict restrictions will be in place across the state.
The district collectors has issued prohibitory orders in every district. The prohibitory orders in each district will be in force from October 3 to 31.
Meanwhile, Kasaragod district collector has imposed restrictions in the district till October 9.
At the same time, public transport will be allowed amid the restrictions. Containment zones will be placed under strict restriction. As section 144 CrPC is imposed, people would not be allowed to gather in the state. Assembly of more than 5 people is strictly prohibited.
Shops, banks and government offices are allowed to function. Examinations which are announced will be conducted as usual.
However, people in containment zones are restricted from taking unnecessary trips. People are allowed to attend funeral-related rituals and wedding under strict conditions. Only 20 people will be allowed to attend funerals while 50 people will be permitted to attend weddings.
Meanwhile, only 20 people are allowed to attend weddings in containment zones in Thiruvananthapuram. More than 20 people will not be allowed to attend programmes of government, religious and political organisations in the state.
Police will take necessary action to avoid crowding in public places. If more than five people are found in hotels, restaurants or other shops, it will be regarded as violation of prohibitory order.
The state government has decided to impose Section 144 crPc as single day COVID 19 cases crossed 9000 on Friday. More than 1000 cases were confirmed in 4 districts on Friday.
In this background, the government is initiating strict action to avoid lockdown and control the disease.
