Kerala on Friday reported 7,002 new Covid cases, informed Health Minister K. K. Shailaja. 63,384 samples were tested in the past 24-hours. 27 deaths were also confirmed due to Covid by NIV Alappuzha. With this, the Covid death toll in the state touched 1,640. 6,192 persons contracted the virus through contact out of which the infection source of 646 is unknown. 66 health workers were also confirmed of Covid-19. 7,854 recoveries were also reported in the state on Friday. There are 83,208 active cases in the state.

The disease affected 66 health workers. Ernakulam 15, Malappuram 11, Kozhikode 9, Thiruvananthapuram 6, Kollam, Kannur 5 each, Kasaragod 4, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur 3 each, Kottayam 2, Alappuzha, Palakkad and Wayanad 1 each were affected by the disease today.
