Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 8,553 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, informed a press release from the office of Health Minister K K Shailaja. 4,851 recoveries also were reported in the state. 23 deaths were also confirmed of Covid-19 on Sunday taking the official death toll to 836.
Among the new Covid cases reported, 30 persons had returned from abroad while 181 returned from other states. 7,527 persons developed the disease through contact. The virus source of 716 is unknown. 99 health workers also developed the disease. 58,727 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Kozhikode – 1164, Thiruvananthapuram – 1119, Ernakulam – 952, Kollam – 866, Thrissur – 793, Malappuram – 792, Kannur – 555, Alappuzha – 544, Palakkad – 496, Kottayam – 474, Pathanamthitta – 315, Kasaragod – 278, Wayanad – 109 and Idukki – 96.
The district-wise statistics of contact cases are: Kozhikode – 1081, Thiruvananthapuram – 943, Ernakulam – 819, Kollam – 843, Thrissur – 791, Malappuram – 721, Alappuzha – 520, Kottayam – 466, Kannur – 359, Palakkad – 328, Kasaragod – 270, Pathanamthitta – 220, Wayanad – 102 and Idukki – 64.
Among the 99 health workers confirmed with Covid-19 on Sunday, 27 are from Kannur, 21 from Thiruvananthapuram, 14 from Ernakulam, 12 from Kollam, 11 from Kozhikode, 4 from Kottayam, 3 from Malappuram, 2 from Pathanamthitta and 1 each from Alappuzha, Thrissur, Palakkad, Wayanad and Kasaragod.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries are: Thiruvananthapuram – 880, Kollam – 400, Pathanamthitta – 167, Alappuzha – 608, Kottayam – 318, Idukki – 80, Ernakulam – 405, Thrissur – 260, Palakkad – 217, Malappuram – 715, Kozhikode – 402, Wayanad – 97, Kannur – 109 and Kasaragod – 193.
