Kerala reports 9,347 coronavirus cases on Sunday.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported a record 9,347 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, informed Health Minister K. K. Shailaja in a press release.8,216 persons developed the disease through contact among which the virus source of 821 is unknown. 105 health workers also developed the disease.61,629 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. 8,924 recoveries were also reported in the state. 25 deaths were also confirmed of Covid-19 on Sunday taking the official death toll to 1,003.

Among the new Covid cases reported, 46 persons returned from abroad while 455 returned from other states.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Malappuram – 1451, Ernakulam – 1228, Kozhikode – 1219, Thrissur – 960, Thiruvananthapuram – 797, Kollam – 712, Palakkad – 640, Alappuzha – 619, Kottayam – 417, Kannur – 413, Pathanamthitta – 378, Kasaragod – 242, Wayanad – 148, and Idukki – 123.

The district-wise statistics of contact cases are: Malappuram – 1332, Ernakulam – 1032, Kozhikode – 1128, Thrissur – 943, Thiruvananthapuram – 633, Kollam – 705, Palakkad – 404, Alappuzha – 615, Kottayam – 405, Kannur – 270, Pathanamthitta – 308, Kasaragod – 222, Wayanad – 141 and Idukki – 78.

Among the 105 health workers confirmed with Covid-19 on Sunday, 24 are from Kannur, 15 are from Kozhikode, 12 are from Thiruvananthapuram, 11 are from Malappuram, 10 are from Thrissur, 8 each are from Ernakulam and Kottayam, 5 are from Kasaragod, 4 are from Kollam, 3 each are from Pathanamthitta and Wayanad and 2 are from Alappuzha.
