Kerala reported 5,797 new COVID cases and 2,796 recoveries on Monday.
With this, the number of active COVID cases in the state rose to 37,736.
So far, 52,03,146 have been cured of the disease.
Of the new cases, 5,309 contracted the virus through contact while 112 came from outside the state and 56 are healthcare workers.
A total of 45,691 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode districts reported the most cases – 1486, 929, and 561 respectively.
A total of 19 COVID deaths too were confirmed on Monday.
With this, the COVID death toll in the state rose to 49,757.
There are currently 1,20,368 people under observation across the state.
Of them, 1,17,548 are under home or institutional quarantine while 2,820 are in hospitals.
