Marking the second day of 3000 mark, Kerala on Tuesday reported 3,026 new Covid-19 cases, informed a press statement from the office of health minister K K Shailaja. 2,723 cases were reported through contact.
The highest number of cases were reported from Thiruvananthapuram followed by Malappuram and Ernakulam.
2,723 of the new cases were reported through contact. Out of the new cases, the infection source of 237 is unknown. 89 heath workers also reported to have contracted the virus. 13 deaths were also reported on Tuesday taking the Covid death toll in state to 372.
The causalities confirmed of Covid-19 on Tuesday by NIV Alappuzha were Thiruvananthapuram Changal native Nelson (89), Ernakulam Pokkanammuripparamba native Shamla Manaf (48) who died on September 3, Thiruvananthapuram Parassala native Prabakaran Asari (55), Kozhikode Puthiyapuram native Usman (80), Kannur Thiruvani temple native V Rama (54) who died on September 5, Thrissur Chengalloor native Bahuleyan (57), Ernakulam native Satheeshkumar Gupta (71) who died on September 4, Thiruvananthapuram Anchalamoodu native Rahumabeevi (66) who died on September 1, Kannur Thalassery native Ramesh Babu (56) who died on August 29, Thiruvananthapuram Mulayara native Mahesh (44), Ernakulam native KE Sreedharan (84) who died on August 30, Kannur Kannapuram native Muneer (44) who died on August 27 and Kozhikode Nadakkavu native Asmabi (49) who died on August 24.
Meanwhile, 1,862 people under treatment recovered from the virus infection.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Thiruvananthapuram – 562 (542 through contact), Kollam – 209 (201 through contact), Pathanamthitta – 160 (114 through contact), Alappuzha – 217 (183 contact cases), Kottayam – 168 (168), Idukki – 85 (63), Ernakulam – 318 (293), Thrissur – 129 (126), Palakkad – 226 (175), Malappuram – 358 (323), Kozhikode – 246 (238), Wayanad – 24 (21), Kannur – 158 (117) and Kasaragod – 166 (159).
Among the new COVID cases reported on Tuesday, 49 persons had returned from abroad while 163 returned from other states.
