2,397 coronavirus cases in Kerala on Saturday; 2,317 through contact

Kerala on Saturday reported 2,397 new COVID-19 cases, informed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He was addressing the media after a coronavirus review meet here.

2,317 contracted the virus through contact. Meanwhile, 2,225 recovered from the virus. Kerala also confirmed 6 Covid deaths on Saturday.

The number of infections remains high in Thiruvananthapuram with 408 on Saturday. Out of them, the virus source of 49 is unknown. Malappuram, Kollam and Thrissur districts reported over 200 cases on Saturday, the CM said.

There are 23,277 active coronavirus cases in Kerala. As many as 34,988 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, Pinarayi Vijayan said.

Until Friday, 8,69,655 people returned to Kerala. Among them, 3,32,582 returned from abroad. 5,37,000 returned from other states. 62 percent among them returned from red zone areas, he added.
