1,140 COVID-19 cases in Kerala on Tuesday; 1,059 through contact

Kerala on Tuesday reported 1,140 new COVID-19 cases, informed the office of Health Minister K. K. Shailaja.

Among them, 1,059 people contracted the disease through contact. The virus source of 158 among them is unknown. Kerala also reported 4 deaths and 2,111 recoveries on Tuesday.

COVID-19 in districts
The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: Thiruvananthapuram – 227, Malappuram – 191, Ernakulam – 161, Kozhikode – 155, Thrissur – 133, Kannur – 77, Kottayam – 62, Palakkad – 42, Alapppuzha – 32, Kollam – 25, Kasaragod – 15, Pathanamthitta – 12 and Wayanad – 8.

4 deaths were also confirmed of COVID-19 in the state taking the death toll to 298. The deceased were identified as Ernakulam Rajagiri native N. V. Francis (76), who died on August 22, Kasaragod Arayi native Jeevakyan (64), who died on August 23, Kasaragod Ravaneshwaram native K. Ramesan (45), who died on August 24 and Thiruvananthapuram Elluvila native Soman (67) who died on August 26. Other deaths will be confirmed after testing in NIV in Alappuzha.
